Phoenix Mercury’s Leilani Mitchell has notched her second career WNBA Most Improved Player award, according to ESPNW’s Mechelle Voepel.
Mitchell, 34, averaged 12.8 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds for the Mercury this past season, which were all career highs, and stepped up in the absence of Mercury star guard Diana Taurasi , who was limited to 6 games due to injuries.
Mitchell won the award back in 2010, when she played for the New York Liberty and becomes the first player in league history to win the award twice.
