BRO BLOG: The Streak Ends Here

Bowl season is upon us, and the SEC’s streak of 7 National Championships looks like it may be in trouble. Well I am here to tell you that not only is it in trouble, it is over. They should even consider themselves lucky that they even had a dog in the fight.
Look, I am not saying that Auburn has not had a wonderful season. But the mere fact that people thought they should have automatically gotten the berth in the BCS Title game just because they won the SEC Championship game is more than just misguided, it is flat out WRONG.
Michigan State had just as big a claim to that spot in the game against Florida State as Auburn did. Michigan State easily handled the Number 2 team in the country on a neutral site, while Auburn needed a whole lot of luck to beat Alabama at home.
Not only did they need luck to beat Alabama, the Football Gods were smiling down on Jordan –Hare 2 weeks before that game when they beat Georgia on a fluke play.
Florida State is the only team that should unquestionably be playing in Pasadena for the title. They have an almost unstoppable offense, led by freshman sensation and probable Heisman winner Jameis Winston, and a totally under-rated defense that should be able to slow down Tre Mason and company.
On the other side, while Auburn does have a fantastic offense, their defense has given up 42 points to Missouri, 38 points to Georgia, 41 points to Texas A&M, and more than 21 points on 5 other occasions. So there is no way they will be able to slow down the Seminole attack.
But if Michigan State were involved, we would see one of the Nation’s top defenses,  who have only given up more than 3 TD’s on 3 occasions. This is a team that would have a chance to stop Florida State and make the National Championship game one that would be extremely exciting.
For some reason, the country seems to think by birthright, the SEC deserves a shot at the National Title every single year, and they are wrong.
It will be very interesting next season when a panel of 13 “experts” pick the Final Four teams to vie for College Football’s ultimate prize, and maybe, just maybe the other power conferences will finally get a fair shake against the “mighty” SEC.
Before you say that Sparty should be happy that they are playing in the Rose Bowl for the first time in almost 30 years, remember this, EVERY OTHER BOWL GAME EXCEPT THE NATIONAL TITLE GAME MEANS NOTHING!!!!!
You want proof?? Who won last year’s Fiesta Bowl? How about the Sugar Bowl? Don’t know off the top of your head? Now tell me who won the National Title. That one was easy as everyone remembers Alabama’s destruction of Notre Dame.
That’s proof enough that the country doesn’t care about any of the other myriad of Bowl games, and the only thing that matters is the game that will be played Monday, January 6th 2014 in Pasadena. Which, for all intents and purposes, is already over and Florida State is your National Champion.
