Mona Barthel officially pulled out of the US Open due to an injured right foot, the U.S. Tennis Association announced on Sunday.
With Barthel bowing out, 2013 Wimbledon semi-finalist Kirsten Flipkens, who lost in qualifying at Flushing Meadows, was allowed to get into the field.
Barthel, who is currently ranked #102, was slated to face off with Lesia Tsurenko in the first round of the US Open prior to pulling out.
