The Montreal Alouettes have released former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Montreal traded two first round draft picks to acquire Manziel last year, and the CFL has announced that it will not approve a Manziel contract should another CFL team attempt to sign him.
Apparently, Manziel violated his contract with the Alouettes, according to the team.
With the AAF in play, and the XFL arriving next season, it is likely that Manziel is looking to latch on with either of those two leagues as opposed to continuing to play in the CFL.
However, if Manziel is looking to draw significant interest his play in the CFL left much to be desired.
Manziel appeared in 8 games for Montreal during his tenure, throwing 5 touchdowns verse 7 interceptions, certainly disappointing numbers that won’t elicit much excitement.
