Serena Williams has officially withdrawn from her fourth-round match at the French Open against Maria Sharapova because of a pectoral muscle injury that will not allow her to serve, Williams announced on Monday.
“I’m beyond disappointed,” Williams said (h/t ESPN). “I gave up so much, from time with my daughter to time with my family. I put everything on the court. … So it’s really difficult to be in this situation.”
Williams revealed that she first felt the issue during her last match.
Williams is set to get an MRI on Tuesday.
Williams certainly has an agent and representation, especially when it comes to contracts, as athletes and even esports players do. Part of that branding are trademarks, especially in esports where esports trademarks are vital, as athletes like Williams protect their brands and interests.
