It was luck of the Irish around the ECHL the past few weeks as players donned their annual green Saint Patrick’s Day jerseys.
The Kalamazoo Wings went as far as turning their skating rink green. At the Memorial Coliseum, home of the Fort Wayne Komets, you could enjoy a green beer. At intermission, you could enjoy a friendly game of Leprechaun toss.
So I decided to create a top 5 list of best ECHL Saint Patrick’s Day Jerseys. Everyone loves a great Saint Patrick’s Day jersey. Right?!
1.) Fort Wayne Komets
I know, I know. You are thinking that because I am a Komets fan that I ranked their jersey first. Ok, maybe that has something to do with it. I just think that the players’ last name getting the traditional Irish spelling is a bonus. I mean, who does not want to yell at the players using O’Schrock or O’Embach?

2.) Toledo Walleye
I have to rank them second. They took the hockey stick out of the Walleyes’ fins and put in a four-leaf clover. I do not know if they thought it would make them seem tougher, but I think it is cute.

3.) Alaska Aces
A simple design, but personally, I like it. They turned the entire jersey green and included four-leaf clovers along the bottom and up the sleeves. They also included “Luck of the Irish” on the shoulder. Did I mention the leprechaun?!

4.) Ontario Reign
They kept it simple by just adding shamrocks and changing the color, but I think it was effective.

5.) Kalamazoo Wings
The KWings changed their jerseys to orange and green and added four-leaf clovers. Simple, yet bright, and the more you look at it, the nicer it looks.
