Top 4 NFL Injuries Ranked by Impact

It was a crazy weekend as per usual. From Thaddius Lewis throwing a 47-yard- TD, to Tom Brady’s last minute TD, to the continued revival of P.Rivers and fall of RG3. It was tough choosing a team to chat about. There were some big plays. Then I started thinking about injuries. There were quite a few devastating ones this week. Here’s the top 4 injuries listed by impact on the player’s team.
Danny Amendola

Poor Danny boy can’t stay healthy. I can’t say that this injury has anything to do with Danny being injury prone and fragile. The hit was rough and there was no walking away from that. He was flattened by a hit from New Orleans safety Rafael Bush. He appeared to be knocked out before he even hit the turf and looked confused as Pats personnel attempted to lead him to the locker room. Julian Edelman, while not as productive as a healthy Amendola, is filling in the gaps just fine. The Patriots can still win without Amendola and have proven that again and again.

DeMarcus Ware

The mighty have finally fallen. Ware was on a streak of 133 straight starts. However, he pulled a quadriceps and will be out for 3-4 weeks. Ware says he will be back sooner as he “heals really fast.” Ware says it will take him 2 weeks to heal from his strained left thigh muscle. Ware’s injury will impact the team more than Murray as the ‘Boys defensive line has been greatly depleted. I rank him as 3rd biggest impact league wide as he was walking after the injury and says he will be back sooner.

Matt Schaub

Oh Schaub. This was awful, and not so much for the severity of the injury, but for the reaction. Rams defensive end Chris Long sacked him in the third quarter and when he went down the crowd cheered. And they were TEXANS fans. Shameful. The Texans fans were thinking that their Pick 6 QB needed to be benched and Yates would come to the rescue. Schaub was not the biggest issue that the Texans had on Sunday and Yates did not lead a comeback. Yates threw 2 interceptions and one was a pick 6. Schaub is needed whether Texans can agree on that or not.
Randall Cobb

This was the worst injury by far. Randall Cobb from the Packers took a hit to the right leg by Ravens rookie free safety Matt Elam. James Jones was also injured but will be back by Sunday. Cobb however is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula. The fracture was nearly a break and will take time to heal. Cobb being out will be the biggest impact as he is the leading receiver for the Packers with 29 receptions. The Packers signed Reggie Dunn from the practice squad to replace Cobb but he won’t have anywhere near the impact. As for the hit, it wasn’t questionable. Hits go high or low and Elam made a choice that was within the rules.
I’ll acknowledge the Giant’s Wilson out with a neck injury. He won’t need surgery but the real reason he only gets a head nod is that the Giants are 0-6. Let’s be honest, this downward spiral will continue with or without Wilson. Also, Jimmy Graham’s injury has time to heal as New Orleans has a bye week and they come back in Week 8 to play the Bills. New Orleans will survive.
Let me know if you think the order should be different or if I missed someone in the comments below!

See ya kids!
