I know, I know, it’s only preseason. However, it’s still football and it gives us a good look at some of the rookies that have joined the league. So, because it is August and this is all we got; here are some things I learned in Week 1 that I want to impart on you all.
- The Bills may actually have a solid QB
Unless you live under a rock you know how bad the Bills are. They’ve had a horrid run of several, several, SEVERAL seasons and a string of meh-worthy QBs. EJ Manuel who was the 16th overall pick in the NFL draft this year may be an answer to those issues. He may be the Bills saving grace. Manuel was impressive in his debut with 16-of-21 passing for 107 yards and a touchdown - Vince Young is still garbage.
I was pretty surprised when Vince Young was picked up for more than a sandwich by the Packers this offseason. I didn’t think he was worth more than that. Turns out I’m right. He only threw 3 passes-but only one connected and it was for 7 yards. Good thing the Packers have Rodgers. - Redskins fans, or as Slate calls thing “Washington’s NFL Team is in good hands without RG3
RG3 is on the mend and saying he will return to the field for Week 1. In fact he wants to play the last preseason game. However, Kirk Cousins, the backup QB, showed fans that he is more than capable of taking the reins in RG3’s absence. He completed 6 of 7 passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. - The Patriots still have offense
After the loss of Hernandez, Welker, Lloyd, Woodhead and Gronk out with an injury the Pats seemed in a bad place. However, the team proved that their ground game can step up to fill the void. The Pats ran the ball 31 times for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns. - Sanchez Still Loves to throw Interceptions
I know he rebounded and actually threw a TD and and completed 10 of 13-but that pick 6 was horrid. - The Ravens Still Have Something Left
Well, I was one of the haters that has been saying the Ravens will be lucky to maintain any post Super bowl shine after that mass exodus in the offseason. Well children, I was wrong. The Ravens stomped the Bucs 44-16 and showed they still have something left in the gas tank that is their roster. - The Chargers are still the Chargers.
That’s all I have to say. - The “Honey Badger” is still amazing
Despite missing an eyebrow and all his hair Tyrann Mathieu was on fire. He had a very impressive debut Friday night. He wants to be the best player on the team and I can see this goal being accomplished by him.
