If you plan on attending any NFL games this season, don’t expect to be making any fashion statements with your handbag. As part of new security measures, the NFL is now requiring all bags to be clear. Thank goodness the NFL has conveniently released a new clear regulation size clear bag.
And if you don’t purchase their NFL tote, complete with NFL logo or logo of your favourite team, you better bring with a clear gallon size Zip Lock bag with you.
How attractive is that?
I don’t know about you, but I like the idea of having all my private items on display. Small clutches are permissible, but honestly, unless you’re hitting up a nightclub, a clutch just doesn’t cut it. The move to clear bags, according to NFL communications, is to “expedite fan entry.”
I call nonsense. (Would like to use another word.) I’ve never had hard time getting into a stadium. It’s always been quick…it’s getting to your seats once inside that’s always the problem. Not once at an NFL game have I been concerned about my security either. They’ve turned a safety concern into another way to profit.
NFL totes will be about $7.99 a piece and are available on nflshop.com or team shopping sites to get one with your team logo. Take a 65,000 capacity stadium, and let’s say one-fourth are women. That’s about $130,000 worth of plastic bags, not considering tax. So on top of your $200+ ticket, the NFL is going to make a pretty penny off plastic bags, too.
