According to the ratings, you are watching the 2013 NBA Playoffs – at least, you’re watching the Eastern Conference Finals … and honestly, over the course of the NBA Playoffs, “any games that the Miami Heat are playing in” are the games that people are watching. I’m here to tell you that if you aren’t one of those people, now is your chance to get in the conversation.
Game 5 and 6 between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers are scheduled for Thursday, May 30 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT) and Saturday, June 1 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT), respectively. And if this series goes the way I hope it does, a potential game seven is set for Monday, June 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT) – and if it does, you want to say, “yeah, I’ve been watching the whole time.”
Why Should You Be Watching the NBA Playoffs?
Well, for one, they are super entertaining, but more importantly, there isn’t much time left for you to sit on the fence about these games. The Western Conference Finals have been decided with the San Antonio Spurs sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies , so now they are just waiting for their foe in the finals.
NBA Playoffs: Heat vs. Pacers
I know – you just assumed the Heat would have a cake walk through the entire NBA Playoffs and you didn’t want to see LeBron and company win again – let’s get one thing straight, they FINALLY figured it out last year – it hasn’t been the foretold domination after “The Announcement.” I totally get it. But if you’ll take notice, the Heat are not invincible and they are getting tested, and that is FUN to watch.
Prior to the NBA Playoffs, the average sports fan couldn’t name more than two guys on the Pacers roster – but all of a sudden Roy Hibbert is becoming more of a household name. Paul George is getting known for his press conference fashion (green paisley anyone?) as much as he is for his play on the court. And if you’re watching these games, you know the names David West and Lance Stephenson.
If this series goes to seven, you want to be able to talk about something from the previous six games while you’re watching. Also, if you ask me, the Eastern Conference Finals will be a better series than the NBA Finals – and I am pretty hyped about watching these two teams play. Nothing but love for San Antonio. They simply aren’t as entertaining to watch for me as this Indiana Pacers team that has really come together this season. And as hard as they are playing and working, LeBron keeps coming up with plays that leaves no Pacers player (nor fans) feeling comfortable until that clock hits zero.
