NFL’s Richard Sherman Speaks Up About Use of Adderall: Another important issue regarding athletes is the (lack of) “safety” manipulating performance enhancers.
TMZ claims that Seattle Seahawks celeb player, Richard Sherman, is ”ill-informed” about Adderall – and should cease his harassment of the league to lift a ban of the drug before, at least according to the NFL, someone suffers from Adderall’s side effects.
The league retaliated their frustration and disagreement towards Sherman‘s latest pro-Adderall comments – in which Sherman alleges the NFL should permit the use of Adderall, because “about half the league takes it.”
In other words, Sherman likes to follow his peers in their size 12 footsteps. It’s totally cool to do drugs if everyone else is doing them, right? A rep for the NFL reports to TMZ: “The comments are ill-informed and inaccurate. Adderall is easily detected under current testing and will result in a suspension absent an approved therapeutic use exemption.”
The rep went on to say that given Sherman‘s statement is factual, utilization of Adderall would only lead to more tests and suspensions. Furthermore, the rep points out the obvious: that Sherman’s words completely neglect the severe medical repercussions and recorded public health issues connected to misuse of Adderall as well as other drugs.
Adderall is intended to be prescribed to those with ADD or hyperactivity issues. Athletes – with or without these conditions – often take Adderall to concentrate and perform more effectively/endure longer periods of time during their games.
I guess Sherman didn’t learn his lesson. He was almost suspended last year when he racked positive for use of Adderall – but he appealed his case and won, alleging there were mistakes in the evaluation
