NHL Video: Tuesday’s Best (and Worst) in the NHL

There was nine games play on Tuesday night and a few that caused some shake ups in the standings. Come find out who had the best plays of the night!

Best ‘Bad Bounce’ Goal of the Night:

Boston vs. Winnipeg – The lone goal scored by the Bruins came in the second period when Brad Marchand took advantage of a funny bounce off the boards and slipped one right past Ondrej Pavelec. The B’s would take the 1-0 lead into the third period but Winnipeg fought back to get 3 third period goals and the comeback victory.

Check out Marchand’s lucky bounce!

Best ‘Why goalies should stay in their net’ Goal of the Night:

New York vs. New Jersey – To get the Rangers on the board Michael Del Zotto was able to redirect a shot past Johan Hedberg after a shot on net by Derek Stepan. Just prior to the goal Hedberg came way out of his net to play the puck and had a little miscue that lead to the first goal of the night.

Watch as MDZ and Stepan combine for New York’s first goal.

Best ‘Monkey off the back’ Goal of the Night:

Phoenix vs. Los Angeles – Tuesday night was the King’s 29th game of the season. Drew Doughty had not been able to scored in the previous 28 games that the Kings had played. That all changed when six-minutes into the second period Doughty blasted a shot past Mike Smith to finally get his first goal of the season.

Check out Doughty’s goal!

Best Saves of the Night:

There were multiple highlight worthy saves made last night but we were able to pick just a few to make our best of the night!

Ondrej Pavelec on Patrice Bergeron – Both teams were held scoreless in the first period and that is largely due to this save that Pavelec made on Bergeron to keep the score tied at zero.

Jhonas Enroth on Brian Gionta – With the score tied at two in the third period Enroth comes up with a huge save on Gionta to force the game to overtime.

Johan Hedberg on Carl Hagelin – Hedberg made his 13th consecutive start on Tuesday and with the game tied in the second period made this point blank save on Hagelin to keep the game tied.

Best Fights of the Night:

Not too many fights went down on Tuesday but these two were must see throw downs.

Kevin Westgarth vs. Eric Selleck – Westgarth and Selleck battled against each other all night before it finally resulted in them dropping the gloves in the third period. Westgarth got the better of the fight, and it looks as though Selleck could be facing a possible suspension as he came right of the bench to start the fight.

Marcus Foligno vs. Alexei Emelin – Foligno didn’t like the hit that Emelin gave him after the whistle was blown and decided he was going to do something about it.

Not a terribly busy night in the highlight department but a few that will catch your eye. Make sure you check us out again tomorrow to find out who else makes our best of list!
