With less than two weeks left in the ECHL regular season, we are going to list the Top 10 forwards and defensemen, and the top five goalies in the league.
FORWARDS
1. Mathieu Roy, Florida Everblades
Roy has played in 62 games so far this season. He has 31 goals and 41 assists, which combine for a point total of 72. It’s his fifth season with the Everblades, and it is by far the best he’s had with the team. He ended last season with 46 points for the Everblades.
2. Michael Forney, Colorado Eagles
Forney has 71 points so far this season with 34 goals and 37 assists. He has played in 65 games with the Eagles. It is his first year with the team. In the 2010-2011 season, he played for Gwinnett and recorded 79 points.
3. Kyle Kraemer, Ontario Reign
Kraemer has played with the Reign for three seasons, and is having his best season yet. In 65 games, he has recorded 29 goals and 39 assists for a total of 68 points.
4. Brandon Marino, Fort Wayne Komets
It’s Marino’s first season in the ECHL. In the CHL, he played for the Quad City Mallards and recorded 90 points with the team. So far this season in 64 games, Marino has 20 goals and 48 assists that equal 68 points with the Komets.
5. Todd Robinson, Evansville IceMen
Robinson has been a huge asset to the IceMen this season by having 61 assists. He has only seven goals so far, but, if the past shows anything, he’s not done yet. Last season with the IceMen, he recorded 23 goals and 69 assists totaling 92 points for the team. In 2008-09, Robinson has a season total of 112 points in the IHL.
6. Nick Mazzolini, Alaska Aces
Mazzolini has played with the Aces for three seasons in his career, and is having a record season. In 65 games, he has 35 goals, 32 assists and 67 points. Last season, he ended with 56 points.
7. Yannick Tifu, Reading Royals
Tifu has been playing in the ECHL since 2006, but has been with the Royals for only two seasons. Tifu ended last season with 59 points, and has improved this season. He currently has 25 goals, 39 assists and 64 points.
8. Matthew Pistilli, Florida Everblades
Pistilli has played 67 games in the ECHL this season, but has split time with the South Carolina Stingraysand the Florida Everblades. Together, he has a total of 21 goals, 42 assists and 63 points in the league so far. He has 40 of the points for the Everblades.
9. Marc-Olivier Vallerand, Greenville Road Warriors
After spending time in the AHL, Vallerand returned to Greenville to record his best season yet with the team. He has 20 goals, 42 assists and 62 points for the Road Warriors so far.
10. Trent Daavettila, Colorado Eagle
It’s Daavettila’s first season with the Eagles, and he is making an impression. In 64 games, he has recorded 17 goals, 44 assists and totals 61 points so far. With the Wings last season, he recorded 74 points. His season high came in the 2010-11 season when he totaled 80 points with the Wings.
DEFENSEMEN
1. Matt Case, Idaho Steelheads
Case may be one of the best all-around players in the league. He leads the league’s plus-minus with plus-33. He has appeared in 56 games for the Steelheads, has 37 points and is leading all the defensemen. He has six goals and 31 assists so far.
2. Chris Reed, Cincinnati Cyclones
Reed has a plus-minus of plus-29 for the Cyclones currently. He’s appeared in 53 games for Cincinnati and has 18 points so far. He played 33 games for the team in the 2011-12 season, had only six points and ended as a plus-2.
3. Steven Delisle, Greenville Road Warriors
Delisle has played in the ECHL for two seasons, and spent last year with the Chicago Express. In last year’s season, he ended with four points and as a minus-2. This season, he has improved to 19 points and is a plus-24 so far.
4. Matthew Clune, Ontario Reign
Clune leads the list in his number of games played with 64 for the Reign. He is a force for the team and has 131 penalty minutes. Along with that, Clune is currently plus-24 for the team and has 14 points.
5. Jordon Southorn, Elmira Jackals
Southorn has 30 points so far this season with 10 goals and 20 assists. Along with his point total, he is currently plus-23. His point total is a record for him in the ECHL. The closest he came to it was in the 2011-12 season when he recorded 16 points with Trenton.
6. Corey Finehage, Gwinnett Gladiators
Finehage is having a great year with the Gladiators. He’s appeared in 61 games and has 15 points. He is also a plus-22 for the team. Last season, he ended with a minus-4 and had only 13 points.
7. Mike Marcou, Greenville Road Warriors
In Marcou’s first season in the ECHL, he hasn’t done too shabby. The 23-year-old has played in 54 games with Greenville and has 25 points so far. He is currently a plus-19 as well.
8. Cameron Burt, Ontario Reign
Burt has been a force for the Reign this season. He is currently sixth in the league for defensemen point leaders with 34 points. He has only one goal, but has 33 assists so far. He is currently a plus-17 for the Reign.
9. Cody Lampl, Toledo Walleye
It’s Lampl’s first season with Toledo, and he is currently a plus-17. He currently has 15 points with six goals and nine assists in 58 games. His 15 points so far ties his total in the ECHL from the 2010-11 season with the Steelheads.
10. Jace Coyle, Idaho Steelheads
Coyle has played for the Steelheads for two seasons. Last season, he played only 13 games with the team and recorded two assists. This season, he has played 32 games and has 26 points and is a plus-16 for the Steelheads.
GOALIES
1. Ryan Zapolski, South Carolina Stingrays
Zapolski has played in 37 games for the Stingrays this season, the most he’s played in the ECHL in his career. He has a record of 25-10-2 currently. Zapolski has a 1.66 goals-against average and has a .940 save percentage so far.
2. Gerald Coleman, Alaska Aces
Coleman has been a remarkable goalie for teams in the ECHL since the 2006-07 season, when he began playing in the league with the Johnstown Chiefs. He has played 28 games so far with the Aces. He has a record of 21-5-2, and a 2.13 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
3. Mark Guggenberger, Alaska Aces
Along with Coleman, the Aces have Guggenberger who is in his first season in the ECHL. At 24 years old, he is 24-8-5 in 38 games played. He has a 2.21 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
4. Michael Houser, Cincinnati Cyclones
Houser has played in front of the net 23 times for the Cyclones this season, and has a15-6-2 record so far. He has a goals-against average of 2.34 and a .927 save percentage so far.
5. Adam Brown, Colorado Eagles
In his first season in the ECHL, Brown has played in 36 games so far. He has a record of 20-12-1. His save percentage is .913 and he has a 2.45 goals-against average so far this season.
