NBA BLOG, LAWS ON THE COURT: The End of the Mike Brown Era…

The end of the Mike Brown Era…

Coach: to train or teach a group. Fired: to discharge from a position. Two definitions to do with the Los Angeles Lakers. An all-star front line, and yet they lost all eight pre-season games. Three more loses to start the season. Was coaching really the problem? It seemed to be that way or Mike Brown wouldn’t have been fired.

I have a belief, and not everyone agrees with it, but I don’t believe it was only the coaching that caused this demise. Mike Brown was the coach of the year in 2008-2009 season, coached LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It’s the players’ responsibility to win games, to fight hard for a win. The Lakers gained a few star-studded players; maybe it’s the egos in the locker room, which caused such a rough start to the season?

Blame is usually placed on one person, not the whole team. Sure, injuries don’t help — Steve Nash, dealing with his fracture, but I don’t really think it was all Mike Brown’s fault. Some say he couldn’t handle the talent. I think he did a good job with the over-sized ego’s he had in the dressing room. Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, can’t forget Metta World Peace…

Mike D’Antoni, the newest coach for the L.A. Lakers, was announced on Sunday night. Steve Nash, was coached by him in Phoenix and won consecutive MVP’s in 2005 and 2006. Both Bryant and Nash have expressed support for D’Antoni to be their new coach.

Since the discharge of Mike Brown, the Lakers have gone on to win a few games, and have managed to change the negative chatter on every sports social media platform thus far.

The next few games should be an interesting few to see how Mike D’Antoni is able to settle in and coach this star-studded line up. Hey, if Erik Spoelstra can do it with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen and Chris Bosh, then I’m hoping D’Antoni can manage with Bryant, Howard, Nash and World Peace.
