Laws on the Court: Pre-Season World Wide

October, a month when it rains and drops to a temperature most of us don’t want to think about, in Canada at least. October, a month where we celebrate what we are thankful for and how to scare one another. October, a month filled with preseason basketball. Are you excited, because I sure am!

Istanbul, Milan, Berlin, Mexico City, Barcelona, Beijing, Shanghai, Montreal and Winnipeg. What do these nine cities all have in common? Preseason NBA basketball.

The NBA 2012 Europe Live tour has come to an end, but not before we had the chance to see our Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks face off against European teams. The Dallas Mavericks were no match for FC Barcelona, as they have beat the last three American teams — FC Barcelona won 99-85. On the other hand the Celtics crushed the EA7 Emporio Armani in Milan, 105-75. In fact, it’s easier than ever to find sports talk podcasts and even many sports media journalists with many gameday clips available at the ready.

Next stop, China. In Beijing, the Miami Heat beat the L.A. Clippers 94-80. New addition Ray Allen had 15 points of the bench for Miami, hitting 4 three-pointers, while Blake Griffin led the Clippers with eight rebounds, and 19 points. In Shanghai, DeAndre Jordan had 18 points, 2 blocks, and 9 rebounds to help the LA Clippers defeat the reigning champs in a 99-89 victory over the Heat.

The Canadian series is set to kick off October 19 with the Toronto Raptors versus the New York Knicks in Montreal. What’s in store for this game? Well, the Raptors were able to hold off the Detroit Pistons 82-75 on October 12. They have a 2-1 record so far this preseason. The New York Knicks beat the Celtics in their game on October 13 with a 98-95 overtime win. They hold a 2-0 record.

The last game in the 2 game Canuck series kicks off in Winnipeg with the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota has a record of 2-1. On October 14 they managed to edge the Bulls 82-75. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons fell to the Milwaukee Bucks 108-91 on the 13. They have a record as of now of 1-2.

Goodbye September, Hello October!
