Brittany Lincicome, a winner of eight LPGA Tour titles, has been offered a sponsor exemption to compete on the PGA Tour this summer at the Barbasol Championship.
Lincicome joins Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie as the only female golfers, in this era, to play in an official PGA Tour event.
“I always thought it would be cool to try,” Lincicome said (h/t ESPN).
“I’m not trying to prove anything.”
The Barbasol Championship plays out from July 19th through July 22nd.
Lincicome, who has played in mini-tour events to prepare for the LPGA season, has grown up playing against boys at times, and defeated them throughout her time in junior high and high school play.
“Those guys were very welcoming and I had a great time, so hopefully it’s the same,” Lincicome said.
“I’m already nervous. I feel like every time I walk by one of those guys they are going to look at me like, ‘Why the heck are you here?’ Hopefully they are really nice. If the tours think it’s OK and there really is no negative side to it, I guess the worst I could do is miss the cut.”
Missing the cut can be difficult to recover from, just like losing business, especially in a lucrative market such as South Florida. To gain the edge and stay competitive, many of those businesses, some of which run golf companies, rely on Miami SEO to help get their brand, or their golf course, to the top of their own leaderboard.
Success is on the horizon
