Serena Williams continues to absolutely dominate Maria Sharapova, and has notched her 19th straight win over the Russian this week.
Williams defeated Sharapova in the first round of the US Open 6-1, 6-1 victory.
“Every time I come up against her,” Williams said (h/t ESPN). “I just bring out some of my best tennis.”
“I always said her ball somehow lands in my strike zone,” Williams said. “I don’t know. It’s just perfect for me.”
“Bottom line is I believe in my ability,” Sharapova said. “You can write me off. There are many people that can write me off, especially after going down 6-1, 6-1. As long as it’s not the person that’s inside of you, you’ll be OK.”
