Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ wide receiver Chris Matthews was stabbed at a Winnipeg restaurant over the weekend, according to numerous reports (h/t CFL.ca).
Following the stabbing, Matthews was taken to the hospital and released. Matthews was practicing on Monday and there are currently no charges forthcoming.
Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea declined to discuss the matter following practice on Monday.
“No, we will leave that for the Winnipeg Police Services,” O’Shea told reporters, adding that Matthews is fine.
Matthews, 29, has hauled in only 3 receptions for 26 yards in two games for Winnipeg this season.
