Ariya Jutanugarn has stormed into the lead of the U.S. Women’s Open, using two quick birdies to build momentum and put pressure on Sarah Jane Smith.
Jutanugarn shot a 5-under 67 in the third round Saturday in an impressive display that saw her turn a three-shot deficit into a four-shot lead.
Jutanugarn now has a shot to win her her ninth LPGA Tour win and her second major championship.
“She’s a spectacular player, obviously,” Smith, who shot a 74, said of Jutanugarn (h/t ESPN). “Her length is just one part of her game. She hits it a long way, but her short game is impeccable. She rolls the ball beautifully.
“She’s just the whole package.”
Smith also discussed her struggles.
“I think the nerves showed up in my putting,” Smith said. “I didn’t feel too bad, but I think when you are not getting the ball to the hole it probably proves that you are not letting it go.”
“I think I’m going to sleep pretty well,” Jutanugarn said.
Health and fitness have been key to the success that Jutanugarn has experienced. Even when the gym isn’t open, she surely has been aware of fitness streams that make it easy to access some of the top yoga streams, or other workouts, from the comfort of your home, regardless of time of day.
