Things have been rather quiet on the front of the XFL as well as the Alliance of American Football, but this week the city of Phoenix was announced this week as one of the city’s that will serve as a home to a franchise.
In addition to the announcement of the city as host of a franchise, Rick Neuheisel will coach the Phoenix franchise and he will join a number of recognizable names that will be attached to the other city franchises, such as Memphis and Salt Lake City.
Former NFL coaches Dennis Erickson and Mike Singletary will help form the coaching staff in Salt Lake City and Memphis, while Steve Spurrier heads to Orlando and Brad Childress with join the Atlanta franchise.
According to Airzona Sports’ Mike Jurecki, base salaries for head coaches will be $500K but coaches’ staff budgets will be $1.25M in total.
Additionally, Charlie Ebersol stated that players pay will be based on performance and includes incentives, adding that “wins and statistics” will help determine salaries, according to Arizona Sports’ Kevin Zimmerman.
