Since I wrote about who I thought should win the Vezina Trophy last week, I thought I’d stick with the goalie theme this week and give you a list of the Top 5 Saves of the Week.

5. Jimmy Howard diving save on Kyle Brodziak
Wow, Jimmy. Way to stay with Brodziak. Howard knew there would be a rebound chance so he did everything he could to stay with him, and he did. Howard has been impressive with the Red Wings and this save shows his talent.
4. Robin Lehner on Valtteri Filppula
Lehner made an amazing save on a wraparound. The crowd was so sure there was ZERO chance Lehner would be able to get there in time, but he did. I love the one guy wearing the white long-sleeved shirt. He seemed so angry, like the goal light should have lit up. Sorry pal, no goal there.
3. Jonathan Quick glove save on Tomas Fleischmann
The first time I watched this, all I did was write “Wow.” I gotta say, nothing makes me love goaltenders more than a BEAUTIFUL glove save and this is exactly what I drool over. I may have made a mistake putting this in third actually. Still salivating.
2. Tuukaa Rask’s save after save
It’s Tuukka Time! Gosh, that saying never gets old. After declaring him my pick for the Vezina, Rask goes and does something like this. I’m pretty sure I made a good call last week with my pick. Rask denied, denied and denied Phoenix. It doesn’t matter whether it’s his pad or paddle, nothing gets past him. Sheesh! At this point, I’m pretty sure Rask could stop a puck by grabbing it out of the air with his teeth like a dog with a Frisbee. It’s just who he is.
1. Cam Ward stick save on Bryan Little
That stick. I want it. First off, I have to commend the announcers for referencing cricket. Secondly, I want to see the mathematical numbers of the probability Ward could make that save with his stick. There’s no doubt Ward is crazy good, but *EXPLETIVES*! That was gorgeous. Also, please note that Bryan Little couldn’t even believe it. Watching him makes it even better. He shared in our disbelief in this save. We don’t understand it either Bryan, Cam is just that good.
