LAWS ON THE COURT: NBA Edition, History in the making for athletes

Today marked a day in history, for openly gay athletes. It got the whole world talking. I have seen more supporting comments, than I have ignorant or unorthodox opinions/comments of the matter. Please keep an open mind when people come out to you about things in their lives. You may not understand, or like what you hear, but it’s not your choice as to what others do, or believe in. Jason Collins, is a hero to many people, gay or straight. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to do what Jason Collins did today. He made a ground-breaking decision today, by coming out as the first openly gay athlete in a professional sport.

“I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.”

“All the support I have received today is truly inspirational. I knew that I was choosing the road less traveled but I’m not walking it alone.” @jasoncollins34

After writing an article for Sports Illustrated, an out-pour of support came his way.

“Proud of @jasoncollins34. Don’t suffocate who u r because of the ignorance of others #courage #support #mambaarmystandup #BYOU” – @kobebryant

“I am so proud of my bro @jasoncollins34 for being real. #FTheHaters” @Baron_Davis

“Happy for my former teammate Jason Collins. A true American. “home of the free because of the brave.”” – @rudygay22

“Character is found in those who lead. I am so proud of my friend, Jason Collins, for showing all of us what leadership looks like” – @SHAQ

I think it’s great that he has so much support about coming out, and being who he is. I understand the world is full of ignorant people, who believe it’s okay to make comments about sexuality, and think it’s okay to do so. You’re making a fool out of yourself. Everyone has the right to love somebody, wether they are gay or straight. Thank you to Jason Collins, for leading the way for many different athletes to come.

Oh the Joys of Playoff Basketball

As much as i enjoy watching playoff basketball, these first round series haven’t given me much hope for an exciting final. A few people have asked me who i predict to be in the finals this year. I honestly think it will be a repeat of last year, unless someone can knock out the Heat, or the Thunder. Though, I don’t see it happening.

historyWell the Lakers end their season with a sweep, and not a good one. This all-star team that we all saw form in the summer, was a huge disappointment. Not because of their record, but the players. Bryant played a phenomal year until he was sidelined with a torn achiles tendon, Nash played average, as he was stricken with injuries throughout the season. Pau Gasol, injury stricken, and the Dwight Howard, injuries and poor attitude. The season ended for them last night as the Spurs ended up beating them 103-82. Dwight Howard was ejected from the game, Kobe sat behind the bench coaching, and Steve Nash sat there in a nice fitted suit, as his dreams of a championship ring went down the drain. Nash would have had more luck signing with the Raptors this season.

Milwaukee also felt the brushing of the broom, as they were swept by the Miami Heat. I will give the bucks props, as they were facing the best team in the league, they came out strong, just not strong enough, they didn’t even have a fighting chance.

Chicago, can you please beat Brooklyn now. If you read my previous article I had the Brooklyn Nets winning, well I haven’t seen that team. The Bulls need to put them out of their misery, and let the real teams go into the next round.

The Knicks almost had a sweep, until the refs came out on Sunday. Celtics finally won a game, with a little help from the zebras. I predict a win by the Knicks to end the series.

As I am slowly writing this blog, the OKC Thunder are beating the Rockets. It would a clean sweep if they come out with this win tonight! Go Durant Go! …Not biased at all.

Well the Pacers & Hawks / Clippers & Grizzlies are going to be battling there series out until game 7 it seems, series is tied at 2-2. I’d prefer the Clippers to beat the Grizzlies, but then @JustToiaya, might get a little mad at me.

It looks like the epic season for the Denver Nuggets will be coming to an end, as Curry and his warriors (sounds so cool) demolish this team. One more win for Golden State and they go into the next round.

And on that note..

Michael Jordan got married on the weekend for the second time. The happy couple wed in-front many athletic celebrities such as Tiger Woods, Patrick Ewing and over 300 guests. Thank goodness they weren’t in the playoffs, or Jordan might have missed his own wedding for a Charlotte Bobcat game.
