NHL Video: Check Out Last Night’s Best Hits, Fights and Plays (and more!)

With eleven games being played on the night you are bound to have a little bit of everything. Come check out our “Best of the Night” for Thursday’s games.

Best Goal of the Night:

Canucks vs. Blue Jackets – If you asked anyone (aside from Blue Jacket fans) before the game who they thought would win this game, the huge majority would tell you the Canucks. That wasn’t the case though and that’s because Matt Calvert decided to take it upon himself to get Columbus the overtime victory. After working to keep possession of the puck Calvert skates towards the middle of the ice and puts a wrister top corner on Cory Schneider giving Columbus the 2-1 win.

Check out the game winning goal here!

Biggest Hit of the Night:

Stars vs. Kings – The Kings may have lost to the Stars 5-2 on the night, but thanks to one of their defensemen they’re getting our Biggest Hit of the Night honor.

LA’s Drew Doughty throws a huge hit on Alex Goligoski of Dallas along the boards during the second period rocking Goligoski’s world!

Best Fight of the Night:

There were two fights that I just couldn’t choose which one was better so I want to hear from our babely readers! Make sure you check out the two fights and send your feedback

Oilers vs. Red Wings – Second option is Mike Brown dropping the gloves with Jordin Tootoo.

Biggest Comeback:

Penguins vs. Flyers – One of the best rivalries there is in hockey today went at it again Thursday night and once again did not disappoint. The Pens came back from being down 4-1 to rally and beat the Flyers 5-4

Dirtiest Play of the Night:

Capitals vs. Panthers – In a game that saw the Caps putting up a seven spot to get the 7-1 win, it also had a play that we’re deeming the dirtiest of the night. Washington’s Jason Chimera took a blindside hit from Florida’s Tyson Strachan at center ice that would knock Chimera out of the game although he would be okay. Stachan was given a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.

Top Performer of the Night:

Chris Stewart of the St Louis Blues – We’re going to have to agree with nhl.com on this one and say Chris Stewart has earned our Top Performer of the Night. In a 6-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes Stewart had a goal and three assists helping his team to the win.
