NHL Video: Mondays’s Best (and Worst) in the NHL

here were only two games played on Monday night so we’re going to take a look at the best and worst moments of each game.

Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators:

This was only the second meeting of the two teams this season with Boston having won the last meeting in OT 2-1. Monday nights game would need extra time also before the Bruins pulled out the 3-2 victory in a shootout.

Questionable hits in the Game

There were two hits that happened in the game that had people talking. The first was Adam McQuaid on Chris Neil. Neil was down on the ice for quite some time but would be ok and was able to finish the game while McQuaid had to answer to Patrick Wiercioch and drop the gloves.

Take a look a the hit and see what you think:

The other hit of the game that brought up questions was the hit that Neil put on Boston’s Chris Kelly. The two played together in Ottawa for quite some time so it’s hard to think that this hit was dirty, but it caused Kelly to have to be helped off the ice while not putting any weight on his left leg at all.

Is this a dirty hit:

Best Goals of the Game

The first game of the night saw some pretty goals scored throughout the game.

It started off just 55 seconds into the game with Guillaume Latendresse making a nice move on Tuukka Rask for the early goal.

Boston would then get their own breakaway goal when Daniel Paille took a long pass from David Krejci and put it just above Robin Lehner’s blocker tying the game at two.

The game would go to a shootout and even though Boston pulled out the victory it would be Kaspars Daugavins‘ shootout attempt that had everyone talking. This is not your average shootout attempt.

Calgary Flames vs. Los Angeles Kings:

In the only other game that took place on Monday the Kings hosted the Flames at the Staples Center. The home team would hold on to get a 3-1 win but not before some highlight worthy goals were scored.

Slickest pass of the Night:

While on the power play the Kings had some great puck movement but it was Slava Voynov’s cross ice pass to Dustin Brown that was a beauty. Check it out!

Best ‘Poppin Bottles’ Moment of the Night:

The King went up 2-0 on the Flames when Jarrett Stoll showed just how good of a shot he really has and popped the goalies water bottle right out of the holder.

Best Goal of the Night:

It may have been the only goal that Calgary would get but it was a dandy. Mikael Backlund undresses the defensemen and beats Jonathan Quick five-hole for the goal.
